Sisal, scientifically known as Agave sisalana, is a perennial crop belonging to the Agave genus. Cultivated primarily for its durable fibers, sisal finds application in various industries. From agricultural baler twines to mats, carpets, bags, geotextiles, and specialty paper, sisal fibers are a cornerstone of versatile products. Additionally, sisal by-products like bogas (flesh matter) serve as supplementary animal feed or organic fertilizer.

Export Specifications and Labeling

Sisal fibers are packed in standard bales weighing 100kg, 200kg, or 250kg each. For international shipments:
– A 20 feet container (FCL) accommodates 14 bales of 100kg each (totaling 14 tonnes).
– A 40 feet container can carry 28 bales of 100kg each, amounting to 28 tonnes.

Sisal fibers are available in different grades:
1. 3L Grade: Fibers with minor defects in cleaning, ranging from 3k upwards. It must be free of tow, knots, barky, or undecorated fiber. Color variations are permissible.
2. UG Grade (Under Grade): Fibers not meeting 3L grade standards but acceptable for export. Limited imperfections in cleaning are allowed, with a minimum length of 2k.
3. SSUG Grade (Sub Standard Under Grade): Fiber falling below UG grade, suitable for line fiber exports. Minimum length requirement of 60cm and varying in color from yellowish to darker shades.

Labelling and Quality Assurance

Bales are labeled according to KS 1829 standards, including essential information such as product name, grade, producer’s trademark, country of origin, bale number, and production date. Labels are preferably made from natural fiber fabric to maintain purity. The meticulous grading and adherence to quality standards ensure that our sisal products meet international export requirements.

Tow 1 Quality Assurance

Tow 1 refers to high-quality sisal fibers free from impurities such as line fiber cuttings, dirt, and dust. It maintains a creamy-white to cream color and is devoid of sweepings, knots, barky, or undecorated fiber. Our commitment to providing top-quality sisal ensures your satisfaction with every strand.
